AKC CGC Information
AKC CANINE GOOD CITIZENS TEST
The American Kennel Club started the Canine Good Citizen program in 1989 as a means of rewarding dogs who were well-behave companions at home and in the community. The goals of the CGC program are to 1)teach responsible dog ownership to owners, and 2) reward owner's that provide basic training to their dogs and dogs that have good manners.
A key component of the CGC Program is the 10-step CGC Test. The Test addresses all 10 areas of the Canine Good Citizenship program. AKC approved evaluators are on-hand to discuss each area with you and provide not just a 'yes / no' answer, but details on how to improve your dog's handling in areas of concern. All dogs are eligible for CGC testing and upon passing the test, registration in the AKC database of Canine Good Citizens - along with the inclusion of the letters CGC after the dog's name. In addition, all dogs (including purebreds and mixed breeds) who pass the CGC Test can receive a certificate from teh American Kennel Club attesting to the dog's success.

MONTHLY CGC TESTING AT THE RANCH!
The Dude Ranch Training Academy is proud to support the AKC CGC program by holding monthly CGC tests. The tests, held indoors in our performance hall, are open to the public - but advanced registration is required.

REGISTRATION
Advanced Registration is required. You may register by CALLING THE DUDE RANCH at 1-804-798-7900 and provide your name, address, telephone number, email address, breed of your dog, age, and dogs name. The Fee at The Ranch for the testing is $10 due at sign-in upon arrival.
